About
My name is Eric, and I’m a leather smith. About 2 months ago, I set out to simplify my life a bit. In doing so, I’ve come to the conclusion that, well…I’m not really living much of a life at all. The Barter Project is a journey I’ll be setting out on when my lease is up in about 18 months. I’ll be traveling the country by small rv, trading goods with other artisans, artists, designers, painters…anyone that creates. I’d also like to meet some of the people that own my goods, who are spread across the country as well. I’ll be interviewing them and sharing their stories and thoughts on this blog (however it may look by then). I’ll also be working on the road, and creating things inspired by all of the places I go. I’m starting this blog early for a couple reasons. This whole project sprouted from the idea of simplicity, which is more of a goal than a current state of mind. I’ve got to simplify before I get into the driver’s seat and go. I’d like to document the entire journey in full disclosure, both mentally and physically, because I think this part is just as important as actually getting out there. I hope you’ll follow along! Oh, and side note~ I need people to visit, so this is a great time to ralley up the troops and suggest some places you’d like to get a closer look at. They can be anything, from bicycles to tooth brushes to painters to knitters. Maybe you know a great river in Idaho that’s lovely to camp next to. I’d love to meet and see them all.
